Cottage cheese has a creamy and salty taste. And because it is made from milk, it has a milky kind of flavor too. Curd is present in this cheese.

Yes, you can freeze cottage cheese. Freezing dairy products is a bit complicated, And freezing harder cheeses are more comfortable than soft cheeses. Cottage cheese is a very mild cheese. So if you don’t freeze it correctly, the texture might get ruined.

How to freeze Cottage Cheese?

Cottage cheese is a very soft cheese. And we know that soft cheeses are harder to freeze. So we have to go through some necessary steps.

This way, we can freeze the cheese properly. And if we don’t freeze it properly. The cheese can go wrong. The texture can get ruined. During the freezing, the cheese loses some flavor because of the excess amount of whey.

Steps 1: So first of all, put your cottage cheese in an airtight container. You can also freeze it in the original packaging.

Now, place the container in a freezer bag. Do this step if you are planning to freeze the cheese for more than two months. t will save the cheese from freezer burn

Steps 2: Keeping track of time is very important. So use a marker to write down a date on the container. This way, you will remember, for how long you kept it on the freezer.

Steps 3: Store cottage cheese in the freezer for six months. Don’t freeze it for more than six months because your cheese will lose its texture and taste.

Steps 4: when you are ready to use the cottage cheese, thaw it in the freezer. 

Steps 5: After the cheese is melted correctly, drain the watery liquids. Stir the cheese for a little bit. Then use a little bit sour Cream or Cream. This way, the final product will be less dry. And the taste will be a bit better.

How to use Frozen Cottage cheese

Cottage cheese is an excellent source of protein. That is why many people love to use cottage cheese in their dishes. Frozen cottage cheese is a great way to store cheese. This way, you can use it anytime you want. 

But before using the frozen cottage cheese, you have to thaw it first. Thawing is significant. So after taking the container out of the freezer, soften the cheese. Thaw your cottage cheese overnight or for several hours.

When it is completely thawed, you can see some liquid. Drain the fluids from the cheese. Then stir it for some time. Cottage cheese loses its texture and taste during the freezing process. So add some cream to bring back moisture and flavor. 

You can use this Frozen cottage cheese in pizza, pasta, bread, or muffins. You can use this cheese instead of some higher fat cheeses.
